Many diagnostic features would be missed without the higher magnification and subtle lighting control that a gemmological microscope offers. Difficult to see surface features and inclusions can suddenly appear obvious as you adjust the lighting and magnification – making all the difference when it comes to identification, either of the gem variety, of any treatments, or when needing to recognise the features of a specific gemstone.
